Policies and Fees

Fees

Minding Mental Health is a private psychiatric practice. I see a limited number of patients so that each appointment has time for medication management, for the conversation that surrounds it, and for the deliberation and analysis that good psychiatric care requires.

I am in network with Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield. I also see patients privately, outside of insurance. Both options are described below.

Private-pay Fees

I offer initial evaluations and ongoing sessions in a range of lengths. Most ongoing care takes place in a 30-minute standard session, which includes both medication management and psychotherapeutic work. Longer sessions are available where the clinical picture calls for them, and a brief medication review is available for established patients. Patients who do not take medications are also welcome at Minding Mental Health for ongoing psychotherapy.

For current private-pay rates, please reach out through the contact page.

Insurance

I am currently in network with Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield in Massachusetts and New York. If you carry another plan, I am glad to provide documentation for out-of-network reimbursement, though I cannot guarantee what your insurer will pay.

Administrative Fees and Payment

Payment is due on the day of each session. For private-pay patients, this is the session fee; for insured patients, this is the copay or any amount owed under your plan. A card is kept on file for this purpose.

Some work also happens outside the appointment itself. Current administrative fees are disclosed at intake so that nothing comes as a surprise. These include a fee for missed appointments or cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice, and fees for letters, forms, non-essential prior authorizations, and non-urgent contact outside of business hours.

The cancellation policy is firm: with a small practice and a limited schedule, an unfilled appointment cannot be recovered.

Why the Practice is Structured this Way

Psychiatric care has been compressed, in most settings, into something very brief. Fifteen minutes, a prescription, a follow-up in three months. That model can work for some people. For many it does not, because what is actually going on takes longer than fifteen minutes to discuss.

This practice approaches psychiatric care holistically. The fee structure exists to make that possible, by keeping the panel small enough that patients do not feel rushed during their appointments and that there is enough space for their concerns to be heard.

Your Privacy

A therapeutic relationship is built on trust, and that trust begins with your privacy. Every point of contact is handled through secure, HIPAA-compliant systems chosen specifically to protect your health information.

This website carries no patient information of any kind. It is a public front door, nothing more. Phone and video visits run through Doximity, a HIPAA-compliant clinical platform, with nothing for you to download. Intake paperwork, scheduling, and secure messaging are handled through the Office Ally patient portal. Email correspondence uses a secure, HIPAA-compliant practice address rather than ordinary personal email, and payment is processed through Ivy Pay, a HIPAA-compliant, card-on-file service built for healthcare.

The same care I bring to your treatment extends to how your information is held. These systems exist so that your privacy is protected at every step.
